Our Vision: Every child has access to affordable, accessible, high quality early care and education in a system that meets the needs of children, families, early care and education programs, the child care workforce, and communities in New Mexico. Our Mission: To advocate as a collective voice on behalf of New Mexico’s children to secure a system of high quality early care and education. We are committed to systems that support:
Founding organizations: NM Association for the Education of Young Children, NM Child Care and Education Association, NM Head Start Association, Parents Reaching out. History: The Early Childhood Alliance formed in 2004 to unite various groups concerned about young children into one voice. An early effort in 2005 was successful -- to ensure that the new NM PreK Program for 4-year-olds used BOTH public schools and community programs, such as Head Start, early learning centers and family homes as contractors. Initially, the proposal called for the program to be housed only in public schools. The Alliance has persistently fought to get more resources for early care and education, with campaigns such as Every Child Counts. Next Meeting: Thursday, Jan. 6, 1:30 to 3 p.m., at the NM Association for the Education of Young Children/Early Childhood Alliance office, 2201 Buena Vista SE, Suite 424, Albuquerque 87106.
