As we do advocacy work throughout the state, the one comment we frequently hear is that the early childhood community needs to speak with one voice. We understand that each of us brings a unique, important perspective to what is and is not happening for young children, families, and care givers throughout the state and each of those perspectives needs to be heard and considered as we try to find that one voice. To start the discussion, we are trying to find and bring forward past strategic plans and visions than can be the foundation for our discussions. We invite you to join a discussion group or to create your own focused discussion group. For discussion of the metrics - kinds of data & information - that is/can be used to assess outcomes for children. Legislative policy affects young children, families, and care givers throughout the state. Here we can discuss what policies we would like to see implemented, how early childhood programs can be funded, and actions to educate our communities and legislators about early childhood. This group is working to create a collaborative structure in Bernalillo county to achieve positive outcomes for young children and families. Topics of conversation in this group will focus on developmentally appropriate practices, how to identify what is appropriate, and ways to support and change practices.
