Our Mission: The Decade of the Child is a statewide advocacy network of organizations and communities throughout New Mexico that serves to create a space to engage and hear all voices, to facilitate open and respectful discussions on tough issues across a broad range of interests, and to inform and advocate for policies that support the health and well-being of New Mexico’s children and families.
Our Vision: In this next decade, Early Childhood will be at the forefront of our consciousness so that all personal, community or policy decisions will support young children and their families in discovering and pursuing their full potential, in order to ensure a positive future for New Mexico.
Our Advocacy Platform:
Goal: Every child will get a great start in life. New Mexico will increase investments in early care and education so children thrive and find success in school and their lives.
· Expand access to high quality early care, education and health services for ALL children, starting with the most underserved and at-risk populations. · Invest in and support professional development and continue quality improvements for early childhood professionals and programs. · Support families’ roles as their child’s first and most important teachers, beginning with prenatal care and family engagement. · Develop stable and long-term funding sources for the full continuum of early childhood services.
